Torch cactus / Orrelkaktus

Small to medium-sized clumps of erect, spiny stems that resemble those of some indigenous milkweed species. Stems, although they usually remain erect, sometimes topple over. Flowers, produced in mid summer to early autumn, are a striking creamy colour and very large (see photos). They tend to open at night and are probably pollinated by bats or night flying insects.
